Nantucket is a destination for beach lovers, and driving on the beaches is one of the best ways to explore the coastline and access remote, secluded areas that are not easily reachable by foot or bike. Whether you're looking for a secluded spot or a popular surfing beach, Nantucket has something for everyone. You’ll need a Nantucket beach sticker to access the beaches via 4WD, but don’t worry we have you covered as every ACK Jeep rental comes with a beach sticker! Scroll for some of the best beaches in Nantucket to explore with your ACK Jeep.

Great Point Beach: Great Point Beach is perhaps the most iconic and well-known beach to drive on in Nantucket. Located at the northernmost tip of the island, this beach can only be accessed by driving on the sand, making it a truly exclusive experience. This beach is known for its remote location and stunning views, making it the perfect spot for a secluded beach day. You'll need an oversand vehicle permit to drive on the beach (don’t worry - we have you covered!). Keep an eye out for seals, other marine wildlife, and even sharks as you drive along the shore. Bring along a well-stocked YETI and your fishing kit to really take advantage.
Madaket Beach: A more laid-back option for those looking to drive on the beach. Located on the western side of the island, this beach is known for its picturesque sunsets and calm waters. The drive to Madaket Beach is relatively easy, with a long dirt road leading to the beach. The beach is a popular spot for families and offers plenty of space for kids to run around and play. Drive right up to the water’s edge and watch the sun go down over the ocean.
Surfside Beach: One of the most popular beaches on the island, and for good reason. Located on the southern side of Nantucket, this beach is easily accessible by car and offers plenty of parking. The beach itself is wide and sandy, with plenty of space for sunbathing, swimming, and surfing. There are also restrooms, showers, and snack bars available - which is a real perk as isn’t always the case on Nantucket beaches.
Nobadeer Beach: Located on the south side of Nantucket, Nobadeer (aka: "Brobadeer") is popular with a younger crowd & known for its party scene. The beach is easily accessible by car and offers plenty of space for parking. Pack a picnic and enjoy a day on the beach, or take a dip in the ocean to cool off.
Coatue Beach: Situated on the northeastern side of Nantucket, Coatue Beach offers miles of beautiful shoreline to explore. It’s located on the northeastern side of Nantucket and is accessible by a long dirt road that winds through the dunes and provides stunning views of the coastline. The beach is home to several lighthouses, including the Great Point Light, and is a popular spot for fishing and birdwatching. The water is calm and perfect for swimming, and there are even opportunities for fishing and crabbing.
Quidnet Beach: A hidden gem on the eastern side of Nantucket. This beach can only be accessed by a narrow dirt road that winds through the dunes and offers stunning views of the coastline. The beach itself is quiet and secluded, with plenty of space to park your vehicle and enjoy the sand and surf. The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, and there are even opportunities for fishing and shellfishing.
